It is utter crap like this which annoys me. News is the conflict in lebanon. News is decisions made by the government which may affect my life. News is murderers and heros. News is politics and disasters. News is wars, not weddings. So why are we subjected to this crap? What has happened to the world such that a news-caster decides that the very deliberately private goings on in the life of an off-duty celebrity is news? What is going on with the world such that most every station on television decides to cover it? What happened to reporting, to stories, to true information? Damnit! What happened to my News?

It appears that the majority of news programs are more concerned with ratings than with providing the service which they claim. Then we come to programs such as "A Current Affair" and "Today Tonight". Do not be fooled by these. These aren't news programs. These don't have the hard facts. What they don't know they make up, whilst being sure to throw words such as "supposedly", or "possibly", or "potentially" in there so that they haven't ACTUALLY told a lie.

Sure enough, though, people believe them, someone's life gets ruined, and the presenters move onto the next story. They go home at the end of the day and congradulate themselves on unearthing the scammers and bad people of the world. The problem is, however that mny of the people are no different than you or me. I'm actually surprised that they haven't (to my knowledge) done a report on the "Student epidemic", which consists of university students who are getting a "free ride" through university, when other, hard-done-by rich kids have to pay high fees just to attend. And to top it off, they're all dole bludgers, too! Or they're stealing your jobs by working 2 or 3 of them to support themselves! Those bastards!

I am truly surprised that a story of such importance hasn't broken through yet. University only leads to educated people, and educated people don't watch that crap. So if people are allowed to become educated, then that means lower ratings. They might get real jobs, and make something of themselves. It cannot be allowed!

I may have missed something along the way, but I remember that once, people were interested in integrity in reporting. I remember that once real news was the main story, and not just another side-note to the story of how other people are much better than you. I don't want this country to be turned into yet another society of braindead zombies that rely on the news to tell them everything. I don't want this country to become another fear-based society, where everyone follows the leaders blindly, unquestioningly. I don't want that to happen, but it is. We are becoming just another little America, and it's sad.

There's no real punchline to this story. It will end on this note. For that, I blame radiohead for their musical depression. If Gomez was still playing, the story might have gone somewhere different, but they aren't and it hasn't, so there it is.

That is all for today. Later much.
